Scientists investigated 10 vertebrate animals such as birds, fish, frogs and rodents and found some sets of genes more likely to be rejected or transformed in monogamous animals, unlike what was seen in non-monogamous species. According to the US study, this genetic alteration it may have occurred during the evolution of species.
The study is not conclusive and therefore still it is not possible to affirm categorically the reason there are monogamous animals, but what has always been pervasive is that they behave this way for survival.
