It is estimated that there are at least 8.7 million animal species all around the world. But the number of animals that are still unknown is huge. Did you know that Brazil leads the ranking of countries with the greatest potential for discovering terrestrial vertebrate animals? This is what a survey published in March 2021 by the University of Paraíba (UFPB) points out. Not to mention the animals that live in the depths of the ocean and that we've never seen.
In this very rich fauna we can find different names, such as the ibex mammal or the chicharro fish, which many people believe is written with the letter X (xixarro). In this PeritoAnimal article we present an extensive list with animal names from A to Z so you can assemble a more than complete animal alphabet!
Animal names from AZ
Before starting our list with animal names from A to Z, unfortunately we have to highlight that a large number of species have disappeared from the fauna in recent years due to human action. In this other article, for example, we mentioned some of the animals extinct by man.
We at PeritoAnimal have a philosophy of respect for animals, we defend their rights and support different actions, like adoption, not buy, of pets such as cats and dogs. Several of the species we will cite below are threatened with extinction and we believe that access to information is an initial step towards transforming this reality.
Next, we separate each section by set of letters to better organize the presentation of animal names with all the letters of the alphabet with their respective scientific names.
