Origin of the Toyger Cat
The Toyger breed originated thanks to some breeders in California, who decided to cross Bengal cats with cats whose coat pattern was a more marked and defined tabby or brindle, that is, with the typical tiger stripe. So, in 1980, the first litter appeared of Toyger cats, kittens that at first glance looked like small tigers, but of course were cats with a coat that mimics that of wild cats.
The breed was recognized by Tica in 2007, and the Extravagant Cat Council (GCCF) did the same in 2015.
