Origin of the Eurasier dog
In the early 60's, creator Julius Wipfel began making a series of crosses between dogs of two breeds, the Chow Chow and the Wolfspitz, in order to create a new canine breed that combined the characteristics of both puppies. The result was the Eurasier, a dog obtained by adding Samoyed to these previous crosses. This very particular breed was recognized by the FCI in 1973.
Breeding the Eurasier breed was not easy, as it took the assistance of scientists specializing in canine genetics to get rid of the problems associated with the original crosses. All of this has been rigorously documented, thanks to the fact that several books have been written about the origins and obstacles faced in its creation.
Eurasier: features
Eurasier's standard states that it is a dog of large size, with the males weighing between 23 and 32 kg and measuring at the withers between 52 and 60 centimeters, and the females having a weight of 18 to 26 kilograms and height between 48 and 56 centimeters.
The Eurasier's body is elongated, skeletally solid and proportionate. Among the Eurasier features, it stands out that has typical Samoyed characteristics, like the face, which is elongated and with powerful teeth. The long tail covered with long, very dense hair is usually tucked into the back, especially when it is in motion.
The head is wedge-shaped or triangle-shaped, with a sharp muzzle and a soft stop. The eyes are medium and generally dark, while the ears, also of medium size, are triangular and erect, ending in a rounded tip. A peculiarity of the Eurasier breed is that some specimens have a blue tongue, remembering that they come from the Chow Chow .
Eurasier fur is semi-long, varying in length in different regions of the body. Thus, it is shorter on the front of the legs and face, but considerably longer on the tail, neck, belly and back of the legs.In addition, it has a woolen underlay that insulates it from the cold. As for Eurasier colors, practically all are acceptable, except liver, pure white or white spots.

As we said, Eurasier is a dog very playful, so much so that it can be quite naughty during the puppy stage. Also, due to Eurasier's typical temperament, if he gets bored or doesn't get the proper physical and mental stimulation, he can turn into a destroyer dog.
Eurasier: care
The Eurasier dog is one of the cleanest spitz and has the least body odor. However, you should not neglect your coat, which is long and dense, must be brushed regularly, it is even better to do a daily brushing. Baths, on the other hand, should only be given when necessary, so don't go overboard in this regard.
Although the care mentioned above is relevant, the most important care of the Eurasier dog is the care it requires in terms of companionship and social contact. As we said in the previous section, it is an extremely sensitive dog that can't stand to be alone. So much so that you can sulk and develop depression or destructiveness as a result of long periods alone. In addition, it usually can't stand tied up for a long time, so it's also recommended to walk in areas where you can enjoy your freedom, run and play with other dogs.
In addition, it is highly recommended to offer Eurasier different toys and intelligence games that keep you stimulated at home. Also, playing with him indoors is an excellent option.

Despite the qualities of the Eurasier, the breed has the peculiarity of being really stubborn and independent, so they tend to obey only the person they consider their guide and reference. Also, it should be noted that training them requires a lot of patience and perseverance, because if you relax, all your work could be lost in a few seconds. Of course, you must never resort to any kind of violence. It is correct and appropriate to base sessions and exercises on positive and respectful training techniques for the animal.
The above characteristics are explained by a phenomenon called neotenia, which refers to a heterochrony or change in rhythm and organic functioning, which causes your body to mature with a long delay. Due to this phenomenon, this is a very independent, hierarchical dog that barks very little, so you don't have to worry about the noise.
On the other hand, it is convenient that all family members participate in your education to ensure that Eurasier obeys everyone equally. As soon as the dog gets home, it is advisable start your education with socialization, since it is a dog that is usually reserved with strangers. Little by little, you'll introduce him to the basic rules of coexistence, the most primary commands, and over time, you'll be able to add more advanced tricks and commands. Of course, you shouldn't forget to teach Eurasier where to go.
Eurasier: health
Although in the first moments after the emergence of the breed these dogs suffered from serious congenital conditions, mostly due to inbreeding, the current breed is much healthier and more robust. Still, these animals have several conditions to which they are more prone than other breeds, as we'll see below.
Something that seems to affect the eurasier is the rheumatic diseases, that is, those that affect the joints, and they have a great tendency compared to other races with similar characteristics to develop this type of disease. One of them is the well-known hip dysplasia, which cannot be completely avoided but has a better prognosis and evolution when diagnosed early. They also usually suffer from knee and elbow dislocations. Other typical diseases of Eurasier dogs are the hypothyroidism, which affects the functioning of the thyroid gland, and eye disorders, both entropion and ectropion.
So that all these diseases are as less troublesome as possible, it is best to see your veterinarian regularly, performing exhaustive diagnostic tests. In addition, appropriate preventive measures must be taken, ie administer the relevant vaccines when necessary, carry out internal and external deworming regularly, clean and monitor the eyes, ears and mouth and follow the instructions of the veterinarian.
