Golden retriever
The Golden Retriever is a breed from Scotland. Around 1850 this breed was bred as a dog with hunting skills. The Golden Retriever puppy is lightly taller and thinner than the labrador, although the length of its fur creates an opposite optical illusion. The height at the withers ranges between 51 and 61 cm, and their weight ranges from 27 to 37 kg, females being smaller and lighter than males.
This breed of dog has a beautiful double coat. The surface is silky, wavy, moderately long and water resistant. The internal coat is soft and short, insulating the dog from the heat and sheltering it during the cold. Its correct color is encompassed within the various shades of gold, excluding the excessively pale and reddish. This breed changes its fur a couple of times a year and, as mentioned in the previous point, it is in the length and volume of its fur that we find the main difference between the Labrador and the Golden.
The English Golden Retriever has diverged over the years into two modes: the American and the Canadian. Both varieties are larger than the English one.
