Saying that dogs feel love is a somewhat complex statement, although anyone with a pet affirm that dogs feel love and that they understand human emotions. Anyone who has a pet at home must have asked themselves more than once if dogs really feel like us, but they must also have noticed that this is not a question, but a statement. We can scientifically affirm that dogs have different feelings such as jealousy, sadness and happiness. But let's go by parts.
When we cry or are sick we notice that our dog is always by our side. Until some time ago, scientists argued that dogs did this out of curiosity and not because they felt our sensations at that moment.
However, several studies have undertaken to demonstrate that this belief is false. First started a doctor at the University of Atlanta studying the canine brain reaction to odors of people known and unknown. It has been proven that a region known as the caudate nucleus acts, also existing in humans, and that it is related to love, representing in our dog the smell of home or tranquility.
To differentiate between crying and laughing, a University of Budapest was commissioned through magnetic resonance imaging in dogs and humans at the same time. They then came to the conclusion that the dog reaches differentiate when we are happy or not, moving closer to share his affection when he notices that something is not right.
Dogs understand human cry
Earlier, we said that dogs can differentiate between human crying and human laughter. But, what brings them closer when we are sad?
The same question arose a few years ago in the Psychology Department of a London University. They assessed a group of dogs with their owners and people they had never seen before. They noticed that when faced with a group of people talking normally and another group crying, the dogs approached the second group to have physical contact with them, regardless of whether they were unknown to them.
This surprised many of the psychologists, who were able to demonstrate that our dogs are able to know when we are sad and want to be close to us to give us their unconditional support.
Does my dog love me?
That we love our dog is more than obvious. That we always want his company and share many things with him, too. But we would like to correctly understand your language to make sure our puppy feels the same. There are some postures that show us that the dog feels the same love for us, you just have to know how to read them:
- Move your tail and get emotional when you see us, sometimes even losing a little pee due to excitement.
- It is by our side when we are not healthy and happy. Take care of us.
- Don't miss the opportunity to lick us.
- It demands our attention to play, go out or eat.
- Follow us in all our movements, whether it's looking or walking.
- Sleep as close as we get to us.
