1. Agile gibbon or black-handed gibbon
We started our list of animals from Asia by talking about these primates commonly known as gibbons. One of them is the agile gibbon (agile hylobates), which is native to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. It inhabits several types of forests in the region such as the marshy forests, plains, hills and mountains.
The agile gibbon or black-handed gibbon has arboreal and diurnal habits, feeding mainly on sweet fruits, but also on leaves, flowers and insects. The species is significantly disturbed by human actions, which led to its classification as threat of extinction.
2. Manchurian Crane
The Gruidae family is composed of a group of different birds known as cranes, including the Manchurian crane (Grus japonensis) is quite representative for its beauty and size. It is native to China and Japan, although it also has breeding grounds in Mongolia and Russia. These last areas are constituted by marsh and pastures, while in winter these animals from Asia occupy wetlands, rivers, wet pastures, salt marshes and even man-made ponds.
The Manchurian crane feeds mainly on crabs, fish and worms. Unfortunately, the degradation of the wetlands where it inhabits means that the species is found in endangered.
3. Chinese pangolin
The Chinese pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) is a mammal characterized by the presence of scales all over the body, which form on it species of plaques. One of the many species of pangolin is the Chinese, native to Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, India, Lao People's Republic, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Chinese pangolin inhabit burrows that dig in various types of woods, such as the tropical, stone, bamboo, coniferous and grassland. His habits are mostly nocturnal, he is able to climb easily and is a good swimmer. As for the diet, this typical Asian animal feeds on termites and ants. 4. Borneo Orangutan
There are three species of orangutans and all originate from the Asian continent. One of them is the Borneo orangutan (Pong Pygmaeus), which is native to Indonesia and Malaysia. Among its peculiarities is the fact that it is the largest arboreal mammal in the world. Traditionally, their habitat consisted of forests of flooded or semi-flooded plains. This animal's diet consists mainly of fruits, although it also includes leaves, flowers and insects.
The Borneo Orangutan is heavily affected to the point of being in critical extinction hazard due to habitat fragmentation, indiscriminate hunting and climate change.
5. Royal snake
The King Snake (Ophiophagus hannah) is the only species of its genus and is characterized by being one of the biggest venomous snakes in the world. It is another animal from Asia, specifically from regions such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, among others.
Although its main habitat type consists of pristine forests, it is also present in logged forests, mangroves and plantations. Its current conservation status is vulnerable due to the intervention in its habitat, which is being rapidly transformed, but the trafficking of the species has also impacted its population levels.
6. Proboscis monkey
It is the only species of its genus, in the group known as catarrhine primates. The Proboscis Monkey (Nasalis larvatus) is native to Indonesia and Malaysia, being specifically associated with river ecosystems such as riparian forests, mangroves, peat swamps and fresh water.
This Asian animal basically consumes leaves and fruits, and seeks to stay away from forests heavily affected by deforestation. However, the destruction of its habitat has significantly impacted it, and together with indiscriminate hunting is the reason for its current state of endangered.
7. Mandarin duck
The mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) is a bird robust with very striking plumage, resulting from the beautiful colors that differentiate between female and male, the latter being much more striking than the former. This other Asian animal is an Anatid bird that is native to China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. At the moment, it is widely introduced in several countries.
Its habitat is composed of forest areas with the presence of shallow water bodies, such as ponds and lakes. Its current state of conservation is little worrying.
8. Red Panda
The red panda (ailurus fulgens) is a controversial carnivore due to its shared characteristics between raccoons and bears, but is not classified in any of these groups, being part of the independent family Ailuridae. This typical Asian animal is native to Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar and Nepal.
Despite belonging to the order Carnivora, its diet is based mainly on young leaves and bamboo shoots. In addition to succulent herbs, fruits, acorns, lichens and fungi, you can also include poultry eggs, small rodents, small birds and insects in your diet. Its habitat is formed by mountainous woods such as conifers and dense bamboo understory. Due to the alteration of its habitat and indiscriminate hunting, it is currently in endangered.
9. Snow Leopard
The snow leopard (panthera uncia) is a feline that belongs to the genus Panthera and is a native species of Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russian Federation, among other Asian states.
Its habitat is located in high mountain formations, such as the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau, but also in much lower areas of mountain pastures. Goats and sheep are their main food sources. is in condition vulnerable, mainly due to poaching.
10. Indian peacock
The Indian Peacock (Pavo cristatus), common peacock or blue peacock has a pronounced sexual dimorphism, since males have a multicolored fan on their tail that impresses when it is displayed. 11. Indian Wolf

The Japanese Fire-belly Newt (Cynops pyrrhogaster) is an amphibian, a species of salamander endemic to Japan. It can be found in various types of habitats, such as grasslands, forests and cultivated land. The presence of water bodies is essential for its reproduction.
The species is considered as almost threatened, due to changes in their habitat and also to the illegal trade for sale as a pet, which caused a significant impact on the population.
