Physical appearance

It is an athletic dog, strong, very muscular and powerful, with a big dominant head and a compact body that becomes a little intimidating. We are faced with a medium sized robust breed that has a very strong jaw and a not very long tail.

We can find this breed in many different colors from brown, through blue to black, although in general they are usually dark in color, we did not find albino specimens. Many owners of this wonderful breed have the habit of cutting off their ears, something that we totally advise against.

It is a dog with a physical strength superior to other breeds, attributed by the genetic inheritance he received from his predecessors, Pit Bull and Amstaff.

There are 5 different types of American Bully:

  1. American Bully Pocket: It's the smallest size of all the American Bully types known so far, small and muscular and full of energy and vitality.
  2. American Bully Classic: Of all, it is the most proportionate and has a medium size, it is the thinnest of all, despite being a muscular dog, strong with endurance appearance.
  3. American Bully Standard: Medium in size, the Standard is the model that inspires the entire breed. Muscled, medium in size and with a powerful head has the best attributes.
  4. American Bully Extreme: Much like the American Bully Standard it has twice your muscular appearance. Broad and powerful conveys a unique wild look.
  5. American Bully XL: Similar to the American Bully Classic, it is much bigger than its other race companions. It is more proportionate and stylized although with strong muscles.

American Bully Character

The breeders of this premeditated breed tried to find behind the American Bully's ferocious and savage appearance a faithful and familiar companion. That's how it is, although it may surprise us, Bully is an example of a loyal and sociable dog and is, in general, very good with children. He is an extremely faithful and affectionate companion who will not hesitate to demonstrate his value to his owners in the face of any danger. He is very intelligent, capable of carrying out very different skills.

Health

Overall, we found in American Bully a healthy and strong dog, although the constant crossings between close relatives have caused the appearance of hereditary diseases in the American Bully. They have a slight tendency to develop cataracts, hip dysplasia, heart problems, elbow dysplasia, allergies, hypothyroidism, and deafness.

care

The Bully is a muscular dog that must exercise properly. must do at least 3 big rides a day with him, so as not to suffer from anxiety or lack of motivation at home. It is not a dog for long distance or endurance races, as transporting its body at high speeds requires a lot of effort. Still, running a little and keeping an active pace on the walk are basic conditions for your routines.

The American Bully is a very clean dog and you'll like to have it brushed, washed and removed every morning when you wake up. With these basic cares you will keep your short hair clean and shiny.

Dogs should receive an extra dose of calcium in their diet, as they will need it for the development of their bones, which will have to carry more weight than another dog of the same height. For adult food, feed, following the dose recommended by the veterinarian or feed manufacturer. Also, to enrich your diet you can sometimes give them moist food that has a high protein content. A varied and proper diet along with exercise will result in a happy and healthy dog.

There have been reports of Bully dogs being given steroids to increase their muscle size. In addition to being a very cruel and unfriendly practice, it can have very negative effects on the dog, which he will be unable to tell us. It's very important do not administer any type of medication without veterinarian supervision it can affect our pet negatively, influencing aggressiveness in extreme cases.

Behavior

have a good relationship with children. A properly educated American Bully is one of the most endearing breeds in relation to children. They are patient and very affectionate with them, it is known as one of the races that socializes better with them. Furthermore, because of their great protective instincts, we know that they are in no danger.

Behavior with pets is also usually excellent. This breed knows its physical qualities well and tends to properly control its movements so as not to hurt smaller puppies with whom it likes to socialize and play. You should always educate Amstaff, fostering relationships with people and dogs, from dog onwards. Open and affable character, we recommend neutering to avoid all that dominant behavior that could come to have and thus obtaining a more calm and stable dog.

education

Before adopting an American Bully, you should know that it is recommended for people who understand dog psychology and his behavior within the herd. It needs a firm, calm and consistent owner. Therefore, it is important that the owner of the pack becomes aware of what he assumes to be the leader of the herd and follow an order.

You will need patience to educate your Bully but it is a very intelligent dog that can offer us very gratifying and good results. You will have no difficulty learning tricks and obeying whenever we apply positive training.
